Sharing is caring!
Most of us think of time as something that simply passes. We measure it in minutes, calendars, birthdays, and deadlines. Yet Scripture paints a very different picture. From the beginning, God embedded rhythm into creation. He established appointed times, not because He needed them, but because we do. Time was designed to carry moments of remembrance, encounter, renewal, and relationship with the One who gives life itself. God wove Himself into time, giving it a purpose no calendar could hold on its own.
Throughout Scripture, God marks certain moments in time as His own appointments. They are invitations to pause, remember, worship, repent, celebrate, receive and anticipate what He is doing. Israel’s appointed feasts became the clearest expression of this rhythm, among them Passover, the feast that remembered God’s deliverance of His people from Egypt. Centuries later, Christ was crucified on Passover itself, His death fulfilling on that very day what the feast had pointed to all along. History unfolds within the faithful purposes of God, and the calendar itself carries the proof.
“To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven.”
Ecclesiastes 3:1 NKJV
Perhaps the greatest invitation is to live our time intentionally rather than simply manage it more efficiently. That can start small, in the moment before you reach for your phone in the morning, choosing instead to meet with God on purpose before the day takes hold of you. Every day becomes another opportunity to realign our steps with Him, and when we begin to see time as He does, we stop merely counting our days and start walking through them in step with His presence.
Action Steps:
Prayer:
Father, thank You for the gift of time and for weaving Your purposes into its rhythm from the very beginning. Teach me not merely to fill my days, but to walk with You through them. Help me recognise Your invitations to pause, remember, worship, and trust Your perfect timing. May my life be shaped less by the demands of the clock and more by the rhythm of Your presence, so that every season becomes an opportunity to know You more deeply, walk in Your wisdom, and participate in the purposes You have woven into my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Shalom!
