Think about the last building you walked into. You trusted the floor beneath your feet without ever wondering what held it up. Every structure we build rests on foundations buried out of sight, and those hidden foundations are what allow everything above them to stand. There is something similar about the world around us. The closer science looks at matter, the more we discover that what appears solid and simple has a deeper structure beneath what our senses can perceive. Long before anyone could study an atom, Scripture had already revealed that the visible world came from what cannot be seen. The world we touch and measure has always been standing on a foundation we cannot see.
“For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible… And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.”
Colossians 1:16–17 NKJV
Scripture reveals that this unseen foundation is no accident and holds no emptiness. Behind everything visible stands a Person, not simply a set of laws. Christ is the One through whom everything was made, and He is the One who holds it together moment by moment. Take His hand away and creation would not merely change, it would cease to exist. The deepest foundation beneath reality has always been the Living Word.
This changes how we live, not just what we believe. Much of life trains us to trust only what can be proven in a lab or seen with our eyes. Yet love, wisdom, purpose, grace and truth are among the realities that matter most, and no lab can capture them, though we recognise them the moment we meet them. The order and beauty we notice in the world is not there by accident. It points beyond itself to the One who holds it all together, and He invites us to know Him, not just to know about Him.
Action Steps:
Prayer:
Father, thank You that nothing exists apart from Your wisdom and Your sustaining power. Open my eyes to see beyond what is visible, not to chase hidden things, but to know You more deeply. Help me trust Christ, through whom all things were made and by whom all things consist. Let Him be the foundation beneath every thought, every choice and every hope I carry. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Shalom!
