Sharing is caring!
There is a particular kind of confusion that shows up when something we thought was settled suddenly moves. God opens a door, and we walk through it assuming the door is now permanently ours. He assigns a place, a role, a season, and we quietly file it under permanent, as though He signed off and stepped back. Then the assignment shifts, the door closes, the season ends, and we are left wondering what went wrong. Nothing went wrong. The One who gave the instruction is still the One who governs it. Every assignment remains secure only as long as it rests in His present will. The greatest security is never found in the place God gives, but in the God who gives the place.
Creation itself reveals this truth. The sun rises, the seasons turn, and the earth continues in remarkable order, yet none of these operate independently of their Creator. What appears fixed is not self-governing but continually upheld by the One who established it. An order never becomes its own authority, because the Creator alone sustains what He has spoken. A pattern cannot outrank its Maker, and a plan cannot outlive its Author’s permission. What we mistake for a fixed law is simply a standing instruction, obeyed for as long as He is still speaking it.
“And He changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and raises up kings; He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding.”
Daniel 2:21 NKJV
This is exactly where the counterfeit finds its opening. The enemy has no authority to establish a new order, yet he constantly seeks to imitate one, pressing confusion where God brings clarity and persuading people to cling to yesterday’s instruction instead of remaining attentive to God’s present voice. This is why discernment, dependency, and intimate relationship with God matter more than memory and past encounters, because many voices are eager to speak. Those who flourish are not those who merely remember what God once said, but those who remain close enough to recognise His voice and obey when He speaks again.
Action Steps:
Prayer:
Father, thank You for every place and assignment You have ordered in my life. Forgive me where I have clung to the instruction or the gift instead of staying close to You. Sharpen my ear to hear Your voice above every other voice, and give me the courage to move when You say move and to stay when You say stay.. Amen.
Shalom!
