Sharing is caring!
Not everything that feels peaceful is pure. Some routines and spiritual habits are simply inherited – handed down through culture or tradition – and we follow them automatically. They look harmless, even holy, but not everything that seems good or glows is godly. The true test isn’t how it looks or feels, but what it grows.
Discernment helps us see both the fruit and the root. The fruit reveals whether something produces peace or confusion, clarity or compromise. The root exposes its source – God’s Spirit, self-driven desire, or some other spirit. Some things mimic light but carry darkness at their core. When we start to ask, “Where did this come from?” we shift from blind habit to holy insight. Revelation begins when we question what we once assumed.
“Test all things; hold fast what is good.”
1 Thessalonians 5:21NKJV
God wants us to live awake, not on autopilot. He invites us to think, test, and discern with the help of His Spirit. The more we practise spiritual awareness, the less likely we are to be deceived by things that only look right. Holy insight turns routine into revelation and protects purpose from pollution.
Action Steps:
Prayer:
God, awaken my discernment. Help me see beyond appearances to the fruit and root of everything I do. Reveal what aligns with You, and remove what subtly distracts me. Lead me from habit to holy insight, and from repetition to revelation. Amen.
Shalom!
