Sharing is caring!
Most of us know what it feels like to stay busy and productive while quietly sensing that something important is missing from our lives. God never designed us to simply function. When He formed man from the dust and breathed into him the breath of life, man became a living being. That life was meant to be full, not merely functional. Jesus said He came so we could have life abundantly, yet many of us have settled for less through choices we barely noticed at the time. Small compromises, wrong agreements and familiar patterns can slowly drain life from us until we learn to function with what is missing and stop noticing what we have lost. Life can quietly diminish long before we ever realise it is gone.
This is why every decision matters. God gives us freedom to choose, and every choice carries consequences that shape the direction of our lives. Before we receive something, believe something, commit to something or follow a path, we can pause and ask four questions.
The source of something always shapes what it produces, and God’s Word gives us the standard to test what we hear and believe. His will includes His timing, and His way asks us to pursue His purposes according to His character. True wisdom is deciding rightly, not deciding quickly.
“And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.”
Genesis 2:7 NKJV
These questions help us stay attentive to God and protect the life He has entrusted to us, not make us fearful or suspicious. God has given us His Spirit, His Word and His ways so we can discern before we act. Every choice quietly shapes tomorrow, so let us become intentional about what we agree with, what we allow to influence us and what we give ourselves to. When we learn to ask these questions honestly, we bring our lives into alignment with God’s wisdom so that He can preserve, direct and work through the life He has entrusted to us in ways that are life-giving and growth-producing.
Action Steps:
Prayer:
Father, thank You for the life You have given us and for sending Jesus that we might have life abundantly. Give us discernment to recognise what comes from You, to test everything against Your Word, to understand Your will for each season and to walk in Your ways. Show us anything we have agreed with or allowed into our lives that is diminishing what You desire to produce in us. Teach us to pause before we agree, listen before we follow and seek You before we act. Help us to guard the life You have entrusted to us and walk faithfully in Your purposes. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Shalom!
