Sharing is caring!
Every day we absorb thousands of words through conversations, news, social media and our own inner dialogue, rarely stopping to ask where they originate. Yet every word carries more than information. It carries a source, a way of thinking and a direction for living. Before we ever start building with our hands, we are first being built by the language we repeatedly receive and embrace.
Every voice is shaping a future and building something. This is why Babel was never simply about a common language. The people were united by a shared wisdom and purpose that did not originate with God, and their words became the framework for what they built. The question we must learn to ask — consistently and honestly — is not whether something sounds compelling, but whether it sounds like God. Discernment begins the moment we learn to distinguish between words that merely inspire ambition and words that actually impart life. The source always determines the outcome.
God’s invitation is not simply to speak differently but to become so aligned with His heart that His wisdom shapes our thinking, His truth forms our words and His purposes guide our plans. As we intentionally submit to His Spirit and fill our hearts and minds with His Word, our language begins to shift and our lives begin to reflect what God created us to be. The most powerful words we will ever receive, believe and speak are those that originate from God — because only His words carry the weight of true and lasting life.
“It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.”
John 6:63 NKJV
Action Steps:
Prayer:
Father, thank You that Your words are spirit and life. Teach me to recognise the difference between voices that simply sound persuasive and those that truly reflect Your heart. Fill my mind with Your wisdom, align my speech with Your truth and establish every work of my hands upon the foundation of Your Word. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Shalom!
