Sharing is caring!
Decline rarely happens all at once. It unfolds quietly, through repeated patterns that slowly become normal. We see it in our own lives, our relationships, our communities and the wider world, where compassion quietly gives way to indifference, truth becomes negotiable and systems designed to serve people slowly begin to control and exploit them instead. The question is not whether change is happening. The question is whether we are discerning the source and the direction in which it is leading. Every pattern eventually reveals the root from which it grows.
“The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”
John 10:10 NKJV
From the beginning, God designed humanity to express His life, wisdom and character in the earth. Yet through deception, disordered desires and disobedience, that expression becomes progressively distorted. We still possess the gifts, creativity and capacities God entrusted to us from the beginning, yet they can become detached from His intended order and absorbed into structures, systems and ways of thinking that serve a different purpose. This has unfolded across generations, not through isolated choices alone, but through recurring patterns that redirect what God created for His glory and our good. Discernment begins the moment we move beyond asking what is happening and start asking what kind of tree is producing the fruit we are now accepting as normal.
The good news is that God’s love and wisdom are extraordinary. His redemptive work has always been to restore what has become disconnected, bringing people back into living relationship with Himself so that His life can once again be stewarded according to His design. Broken systems cannot be repaired by human effort alone, and a colder world cannot be warmed by adaptation. The uncomfortable truth is that every path leading away from God leads ultimately to death and regret — this is not merely opinion but the architecture of creation itself. God’s patience delays judgement, but it never removes it. The answer has always been repentance towards reconnection — to God’s design, to His order, to the Source from which true life flows. Every pattern that steals, kills and destroys will ultimately come to judgement. Christ came that we might have life, and have it more abundantly. Do not miss the invitation.
Action Steps:
Prayer:
Father, thank You that You are the Author of life and the One who restores what has become disconnected. Give us eyes to discern the patterns that lead away from Your design and hearts that willingly agree with Your truth. Reconnect every area of our lives to the fullness of Your purpose, that we may express the life You intended from the beginning and reflect Your glory in the earth. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Shalom!
