Sharing is caring!
Most people have asked it at some point: “Why God, why?” Sometimes it surfaces in the silence after a diagnosis, a betrayal or a loss that made no sense. Sometimes it comes out as anger — direct, raw and aimed upward. Sometimes it never gets spoken at all, and instead becomes a slow withdrawal, a quiet bitterness, a distance that feels safer than honest conversation. The remarkable thing is that God is not offended by any of it. He is, in fact, waiting inside it.
“The heaven, even the heavens, are the Lord’s; but the earth He has given to the children of men.”
Psalm 115:16 NKJV
God is sovereign, yet within His order He gave humanity governance in the earth. Not because He was unaware of our limitations, but because He made us in His image — and that image carries both privilege and responsibility. He intended sons and daughters who would grow, choose and rule alongside Him. But humanity chose life outside of God, and that choice cost us enormously. It fractured identity, distorted governance and opened the earth to influences it was never meant to host. God does not cause every storm, but His sustaining presence remains — because nothing exists apart from Him. So even in our greatest failure, there is a way back. Back to Himself, back to our true identity, and back to reflecting and ruling on earth the way we were always designed to.
The pain behind “Why God, why?” is real, and it deserves to be honoured. But pain is not the final word — and the question does not have to become your permanent address. Surrendering to God is not weakness; it is the wisest thing a person can do. It is returning to alignment with the One who holds all things together, governs above all and understands your life far beyond your present sight. The question that once felt like a wall can become a doorway — and on the other side of it, God is already standing.

Prayer:
Lord, I have not always understood what You were doing and I have not always handled that well. Forgive me for the distance I created when I should have drawn closer. Today I bring You my questions, my pain and the things that have never made sense to me. I choose to trust what I cannot yet see. I surrender to You the spaces I have been governing alone — and I ask You to move in them in ways only You can. And for those I love who do not yet know You — I stand in the gap and ask You to move in their lives and draw them also. Do what only You can do in our lives, and give us the grace to trust You with what we are not mature enough to control. Amen.
Shalom!
