Rest is something we all need and seek. But, like peace, true rest can only come from God. The Bible tells us that Sabbath, which signifies a day of rest, was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath. This tells us rest is divinely designed, essential and beneficial to our wellbeing and wholeness. The things and offerings of this world may give us pieces and jests, but they cannot give our souls peace and rest.
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28 NIV
Though applicable to high quality sleep and retreat, rest is also in the active. When God goes with us and when we partner with Him to navigate our lives, businesses, relationships and decisions, we will have a level of assurance in the day-to-day, and also in the midst of storms and delays.
When we turn to God, or turn back to Him, we open the door to His rescue, refresh, salvation, revelation, wisdom, and ease-power. God has the solution and system to correct every problem we face and struggle with in life. So why not choose Salvation through Christ?
How do we find rest? By seeking, following and drawing near to God. This may not be easy for everyone because of how we have trained ourselves to function over time, but God in His wisdom and faithfulness sends us gifts to help. This is what my new book, WOO – The Womb of Obedience, is. It helps genuine seekers of God to develop intimacy with the Lord, and to access the wealth of His grace and the beauty of His secret place. It is time to Woo your way to Rest!
