“There remains therefore a rest for the people of God. Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest, lest anyone fall according to the same example of disobedience.”
Hebrews 4:9,11 NKJV
Within the last year I concluded that I did not understand what rest really meant. While it was something I attempted to do, it was not something that would genuinely accrue. Resting but not at rest was for me another red flag and clue – there was missing truth. Beware of pseudo rest!
Rest involves our entire being breaking away from the typical weight and dwelling in a space and place of margin. Rest is not the absence of activity nor the opposite of work, but it is a key partner of productivity, prosperity and perfect peace. In the place of rest we surrender, obey, and love God with ease. Rest fuels our best.
Rest is defined as relief or freedom from anything that wearies, worries, troubles, or disturbs. It is where we are fully present and can dwell in quietness, confidence and 360 sight. Living life without these freedom blockers would be so sweet, but to get there, there is One we must first meet, receive and repeat. Rest is the light and right nest.
Rest interchanges with words like tranquility, contentment, and perfect peace, so this confirms that God is the source behind this scene. Breaks and space are important for our well-being and that is why God intended it to be our place of being. Rest is also a reward for good work but know this now – we access it only by a special key. Rest is free but we need the key!
To bring it together – there is a real rest that fuels our best, and when we find the key to this nest of light we will be free, right and full of sight. Rest is found only in the person appointed The Christ, and the key is – believe.
Be at rest and have a most beautiful day!!
“Real rest comes with knowing the grace of our salvation in Jesus. We don’t have to earn it.” Sheila Walsh
