Sharing is caring!
Most of us sense it before we can name it — that something significant in the world has shifted. Life is full of exchanges and we make them constantly. Many are necessary and right, as cultures evolve, knowledge advances, and some things that once served us well are rightly set aside for what serves better. But there is a category of change that is different in kind — one that does not merely update the method but quietly displaces the principle. What is being altered in these moments are the very principles and precepts that govern how we live, care for the earth, relate to one another, commune with God, conduct business, and expand with integrity. A people who have lost their reference points will eventually lose their way and their weight.
These shifts rarely arrive with loud announcements or open confrontation. They come instead through the gradual reframing of language, the quiet repositioning of boundaries, and the slow redefinition of what is considered normal — until people find themselves living by entirely different measures without ever consciously assessing or agreeing to the exchange. Scripture speaks of a power that would rise with the deliberate intention to change times and law — to alter the very rhythms and reference points by which human beings understand themselves and order their lives. This is why intentionality is not optional. We are continuously being invited into exchanges, and the ones we accept without examination are the ones that often cost us most. What begins as a subtle shift in language has a way of becoming a profound shift in identity.
“He shall speak pompous words against the Most High, shall persecute the saints of the Most High, and shall intend to change times and law..”
Daniel 7:25a NKJV
This matters profoundly because the stewardship of the earth and of human affairs was entrusted to mankind. God, in honouring the weight of that entrustment, works within the dignity of human choice rather than overriding it. This is why so many find themselves asking why He does not simply intervene — what they have not yet realised is that the words and laws governing life and time are already in place, and it is our alignment with or departure from them that determines much of what we experience. When those foundations are quietly eroded, the fracture may be slow but it is certain, cumulative and costly. The invitation before us is to remain so rooted in what is true that drift becomes recognisable precisely because we have not drifted with it. Where that order is honoured, life begins to recover its clarity, its purpose, and its strength. What cannot be shaken will always outlast what can.
Action Steps:
Prayer:
Father, You are the Author of time, truth, and the order that sustains life. Give us discerning hearts to recognise when the rhythms around us begin to drift from Your design. Guard us from confusion and fear, and anchor us in the wisdom of Christ. Teach us to live with the quiet courage of Daniel — faithful, steady, and aligned with Your ways — so that even in changing times, our lives continue to reflect Your kingdom. Amen.
Shalom!
