Peace Is a Person

As with me, you may regard peace as a top priority, and may even be actively seeking it now. Here is a truth that we cannot afford to miss or resist – there is peace and there is Peace.

Let me show you what I mean;

• In the biblical story, Jonah ran away from God and was ‘peacefully’ asleep in a boat, while a violent storm threatened to rip apart the boat and everyone in it. He had to be thrown overboard for the storm to end. There is a quasi peace that springs from the deafened slumber of disobedience.
• In another story, Jesus was in deep sleep in a boat during a terrible storm. His disciples panicked, woke Him up, and accused Him of not caring if they die. He rebuked the wind, spoke to the waves, and all the drama subsided. There is a peace that can only come from the Prince of Peace, and the restful assurance of obedience to Him. 

Both stories included a boat, a violent storm, people, and unnatural sleeping, but the source of peace and the closings were different. The type of peace that comes out of escaping and disobeying God’s will, way and Word, is a facade that will not last.

To have true, enduring peace, and to be at peace in this tumultuous world, we need the kind of peace that is above and beyond this world. Divine peace is available to those who chose to trust in Peace Himself, and to walk in obedience to Him.
