Sharing is caring!
The past couple of weeks have been particularly difficult for many, including myself. Dealing with several moving parts that are moving out of whack, facing several issues that issue more issues, and contending with a swarm of emotions that cause contention with others. Weariness is going for the kill, but we have power when we are still.
“There is such freedom in being able to sit still … with yourself, your questions, thoughts, dreams, and doubts. In fact, I can’t think of anything more frightening and liberating.” Brittany Burgunder
Because life in this world is challenging, threatening and draining, weariness will keep coming and mounting. But it is up to us if it stays around and takes us over. There is an antidote for weariness called rest, and that is the strategy that works best. Rest cures, counteracts and contains the consequences of weariness, but true rest only comes through stillness. To find rest and counter stress, you must first learn stillness.
When we hear the word “stillness” we think there is no movement, but stillness is an active, energetic and intentional quality of existence. Its the ability to peacefully surrender to a deeper knowing while much is going on, on the surface. its like the depth of the ocean unaffected by its waves. Stillness is a beautiful state that causes us to know truth and rest in Truth, Himself.
““Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world.” The Lord of Heaven’s Armies is here among us; the God of Israel is our fortress.” Psalms 46:10-11 NLT
Stillness is knowing that God is good and that He reigns. God is ever-present so we are never alone, but even more, He is the one in total control. It is in stillness that we slow; it is in stillness that we glow. It’s when we are still that the right questions flow, and we receive divine answers on how to grow.
Be still, be present and know that He is God, and witness how much you will surpass and beat the odds.
Have a great day!!
